The Hindu festival of lights. It is also celebrated by the majority of Sikhs as an opportunity to gather together for discussing Panthic matters and enjoying the Guru's blessings. From the time of Guru Amardaas Ji the Sikhs gathered every year on this day. The release of Guru Hargobind Ji, the Sixth Guru, from the Gwalior Jail with 52 political prisoners is celebrated as Bandi Chhor Divas by Sikhs.
